Brief description

The project includes converting the TV Roundabout to a signal-controlled intersection in an aim to enhance traffic flow in the area, as part of Ashghal’s efforts to convert as many roundabouts as possible in vital areas.

Project Description

Benefits

It is one of Ashghal’s projects to develop roads and roundabouts in multiple areas.

The project works include:

Widening 300m of each of the streets leading to the intersection, namely Khalifa Street, Abdul Aziz bin Jasim Street, and Ahmad bin Ali Street, to have four main lanes and three lanes to turn left
Adding pedestrians’ crossings each side of the intersection
Converting two roundabouts on Abdul Aziz bin Jasim Street to signal-controlled intersections
Developing the intersection of Ahmad bin Ali with Al Jazira Al Arabiya streets to facilitate access to the TV buildings and the nearby residential areas
Developing the service roads in the area.
Increasing the road capacity for main traffic on TV Intersection by 25% to 30%
Increasing the road capacity for those turning left or making a U-turn by 100% due to adding three new dedicated lanes. Reducing the waiting time at the intersection by 50% due to connecting the traffic signal at the intersection with other signals on the surrounding streets
