The project aimed to increase the capacity of Doha West Waste Water Treatment Plant (STW) located in Al Sailiya, from 175,500 m3/day to 280,000 m3/day, to enable the facility to serve a total 1,040,000 population and to reduce the risks of overflows of partially treated sewage to the surrounding Lagoons.
The Preliminary and Biological Treatments were extended to accommodate the increase of flow. To fulfil the final requirements of quality for the Treated Sewage Effluent, a Tertiary Treatment Stage was provided by the new extension, including Ultrafiltration Systems. The UV and Chlorination Systems were extended for the new flow capacity and were upgraded for the existing flow capacity. A final Pumping Station for the additional 104,500 m3/day was built for the distribution of the TSE to the final consumers.
